Creating backlinks is one key point in getting ranking with the major search engines such as Google. There are a number of factors Google uses when it ranks a site and one key thing is how many sites are linked to it. Also what type of links and if they are from a variety of sources.

One thing you do need to realize that doing backlinking is not an exact science and there are other factors that will effect your ranking.

The other things Google look at is how fresh is the content on the site. They seem to prefer sites with a video on the front page. They also like content. The more the better. So even if it’s articles that you’ve re-written to make unqiue. The last thingis their page ranking system but we’ve been able to get listed without PR as long as the keyword is not too high. Your keywords are on the high side but most likely your competitors are doing backlinking. So in the long run you should come out ahead.

Remember you are in constant competition with all the other people in the world that are trying to get ranked with the same keywords. So to stay ranked high, you constantly need to be creating backlinks, updating your site to keep it showing as fresh content and adding more content.

I’ve seen a number of people go out there and create a ton of backlinks for their site and then wonder why it’s not getting on the first page of Google.

Common Mis-Understandings:

1 -Backlinking is NOT advertising - They are links to your website and that’s it. Some allow anchor text for your keywords. But 99% of them will never have a human look at them.

2 - Targeting Keywords Out of Your League – There are so many people new that come up with keywords for their sites without researching them first or realizing who they are competing against. Finding keywords with a low to medium range is vital to getting ranking.

3 – Any Site Will Do – I’ve seen people get on the first page of Google for their keyword(s) and then ask why nothing is happening. You go to their site and find it to be this text ridden nightmare that no one in their right mind would ever read.
